Fire Chief Derrick Little

It's been a busy start to the year for the Tweed Fire Department. We've shared services with the Stirling-Rawdon Fire Department, administration as well as the Chief and Fire Prevention Officer. We'd like to welcome Sean Porter to our team as a full time Fire Prevention Officer (FPO). Chief Derrick Little and FPO Sean Porter have been conducting numerous inspections, fire investigations, and assisting in the development of fire plans.

Grass and brush fires have been at an all-time high this year, doubling compared to previous years due to the extreme dry temperatures. A huge thank you to our firefighters that volunteer their time and efforts to helping fight these fires and also to their spouses and families for their dedication and support. Belleville Sport and Lawn's donation of our ATV has greatly assisted us in our ability to combat the many grass and brush fires.

Several members of our department have attended training courses at the Hastings-Prince Edward Mutual Aid Training Facility in Trenton. We hosted the annual Mutual Aid Meeting in April with over 80 firefighters in attendance.

It is now law that all homes must have carbon monoxide and smoke detectors placed outside all bedrooms and on all levels. These devices should be checked and tested monthly.

Remember to visit this website to check burning conditions before any burning. For larger burns please contact the Fire Department 613-395-0214.
